The City of Bennett just recently competed a State of Iowa financial audit. This is a oversight process "to review government activities to help ensure they are conducted in an effective, efficient and legal manner". It also allows us to make sure we have best practices in place to supply the importance services to our community into the future.
One such area the audit indicated we need to be looking at according to the State Audit findings, is in regards sewer funding. We are not maintaining the state requirements of 110% funding for our sewer cost at this time. In response to this Council will be looking at sewer rates in the next few months to keep our community in compliance. In addition the Council will also be looking reviewing water rates, for these too they have not seen increses since March 2013. As our recent "Boil Advisory" has illustrated, it's take easy take clean, continues water in our daily life for granite until there is an interruption.
